Sometimes, it’s entirely appropriate to encourage someone to move past something difficult, to get over it or move forward. But sometimes, when we say move on, we really mean give up.
Never give up on something you’re believing God for in your life, no matter who tells you to! No matter how many people say it, or how many times they say it!
A good friend of mine shared this on Facebook this week:
There’s another guy who’s story is told in the Bible, who not only waited, but worked. Hard. For a LONG TIME. His name is Jacob.
So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.
– Genesis 29:20
Jacob agreed to work for seven years for Rachel’s father to earn her hand in marriage. Despite being lied to, deceived and treated completely unfairly, he worked an ADDITIONAL seven years to finally be able to marry her.
I’m sure Jacob’s friends and family told him to cut his losses and move on. From a human perspective that might have made all the sense in the world. But Jacob waited out of love.
Another friend shared this quote today, and I love it:
A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.
– Elbert Hubbard
Whatever the circumstances of the season of waiting you’re in at the moment, I encourage you to hold on! Don’t break down, just before your break through! (More on that in an upcoming post…)
